Position Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Campus Program Manager, the Training and Resources Coordinator assists with providing technical assistance and training for CALCASA and The Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women's national "Grants to Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking on Campus Program." The Training and Resources Coordinator is responsible for the day to day, overall contact and support of the recipients (known as grantees) of the Grants to Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking on Campus as well as other campus-based programs to address violence against women. The Training and Resources Coordinator must have knowledge of working with violence prevention issues on campuses, possess excellent written and research skills and be skilled in working with diverse populations. Candidate should possess project management skills, student affairs experience, and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as, excel at technological support using CALCASA's website, RSS feeds, listserv, online webinar system, database, e-mail and other systems in order to implement assistance. Extensive travel nationwide providing on-site technical assistance and conducting field visits to grantee programs is required. This position is based in Sacramento, California. Full-time, exempt position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Training and Technical Assistance (TA): Provide Training and Technical Assistance via in-person, phone, email and online support; including onsite field visits. Must work independently to identify the training needs of grantees, and develop plan for implementation of services based on needs assessment. Coordinator will design, research and implement biannual Institutes for campuses under the guidance of the Campus Program Manager. Conduct independent research to provide TA and work closely with CALCASA library and reference staff to respond to technical assistance needs. Identify appropriate materials and deliver information requested. Conduct follow-up with grantees to assess effectiveness of information provided. Attend and assist with the implementation of biannual Institutes. Coordinate and conduct field visits in order to evaluate and asses the needs of campus programs. Provide Training and Technical Assistance to CALCASA's membership on issues related to violence against women.

    Conference and Training Coordination: Identify training needs, recruit, research and contact potential presenters for semi-annual Institutes and/or other training events as assigned. Contribute to the content, design, and implementation of all training events/programs.

    Evaluation and Progress Reports: Review and compile data related to training and technical assistance for agency progress reports. In conjunction with other CALCASA staff/team members, develop and update evaluation tools for technical assistance and CALCASA training events.

    Information Development: Identify and develop information related to violence against women and the campus community and distribute via various mediums (e.g. website) to campuses. Responsible for working with library staff in distributing monthly articles and journals with information on current trends and activities regarding violence against women on college campuses.

    Listserv: Serve as listserv moderator for campus program listservs. Review on a daily basis, participate in information sharing, analyze and identify needs, then research responses. Maintain parameters of the listservs and monitor for professional tone.

    Website: Identify and assist in the development of the Campus Violence Prevention and Intervention Resource Center Website. Responsible for coordinating with other CALCASA staff in the implementation and daily maintenance of campus website, and post appropriate information related to CALCASA's Campus Program.

    Additional Duties: Works closely with Campus Program Manager in strategic development of the program and services to CALCASA's membership and constituency. Also contributes to the professional tone and approach of the project and the organization within the parameters of the agency mission and philosophy. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

    1. B.A. or M.A. in related field. Extensive experience, demonstrated skills and aptitude considered in lieu of education.
    2. A demonstrated experience (minimum three years) in coordinating and/or providing training and technical assistance to programs, preferably in a community-based agency, rape crisis/domestic violence center, or campus violence prevention program.
    3. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
    4. In-depth knowledge of issues related to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. Knowledge of violence against women program operations and college/university campus policy issues required.
    5. Experience conducting research utilizing a wide range of sources including printed material, Internet, databases and identification of alternative information sources.
    6. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Experience delivering oral presentations to diverse professionals and audiences, including workshops and presentations.
    7. Excellent project management, technical writing and research skills.
    8. Ability to recognize and identify information of value to grantees. Ability to synthesize information to ensure usefulness to grantee programs.
    9. Knowledge and application of software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and other applicable programs.
    10. Must be organized, flexible, and multi-task oriented. Able to identify and respond to shifting priorities. A self-starter that can work within a team environment and handle a variety of projects/tasks with urgent deadlines. Must be detail oriented.
    11. Ability to maintain cooperative and professional demeanor with grantee program staff, agency staff/board, vendors, consultants, allied professionals, and members of the public. Enjoyment in interacting with people and creating an accessible environment. Excellent customer relations approach.
    12. Capacity to work in a fast-paced program and manage multi-faceted services.
    13. Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations. Experienced in developing programs in response to diverse needs.
    14. Accept and abide by mission and philosophy of CALCASA.
    15. Able to travel extensively statewide/nationwide, some overnights and weekends. Have a car, insurance and a valid driver's license.
